    Green Grooming Movement

Barn essentials? We all got em. Last year a made a switch to mostly green health and beauty items and I dragged my horse along with me because that’s the kind of mom that I am. As I dragged my horse along in the pursuit of green beauty I had a huge realization that the horse industry lacked in “natural” and “green” grooming products. So I did a thing and created my own line of green grooming products and a shop called the Unadorned Equine Apothecary. Now I am a little biased because I make really bomb products but because I do a lot of self reflection I can also…

    Bag Lady

I’m a bag lady from way back. And I’m pretty sure this is a genetic thing. When I went to visit my parents over Christmas we all needed smaller bags to pack for a trip up to the mountains. I kid you not they were pulling reusable totes, from inside pouches, from inside bags, from inside suit cases. It was crazy and I suddenly realized that I never had a chance to not be a bag lady. So I guess I have a lot of bags but I didn’t have a bag that was perfect for the barn. I mean most likely I did have this bag but in my…

    Cavali Club

I’m a sucker for a good subscription box but it needs to be really phenomenal for me to actually drop the money and subscribe. I’ve been a member of FabFitFun for a year and its been a magical experience as far as receiving normal everyday people items is concerned. But Cavali Club is really something else. I’ve talked about Cavali Club in my holiday gift guide and if you didn’t read that, bummer, but I’ll recap.  I stumbled across this subscription box in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep because I got 99 problems but finding things to buy online ain’t one. I saw what was in…

    Surviving Winter

I feel like it has been winter for over a month now. Is it even technically winter? I’m not sure, but we are officially entering the season where it hurts to ride your horse. Like your fingers are so cold that they hurt. Or your toes are so cold you don’t even know or care if they are in the stirrups. One might call this the beginning of frost bite but for equestrians it’s just “winter riding”. I’ve got a couple must haves that help me survive tolerate the winter.   Back on Track A barn friend got me turned onto back on track products so when winter rolls around the…

    My Equine Apothecary

A few weeks ago I announced the launch date for my new shop. If you missed it…surprise! I’m opening a shop on November 16th. You should go get your coupon code for launch day here at the Unadorned Equine Apothecary. Anyway I thought I’d let all you guys know more information with a little Q&A. I’ve gotten lots of questions and I’m going to lay it all out here for you. Q: What exactly are you doing? A: I know, thus far I’ve posted a lot of pictures and videos on social media that have little to no detail of what I’m actually trying to sell and do. I promise this…

    Operation Horse Laundry

Every year blanket season comes around and I’m still just as confused as the year before. I always think I have learned a lot by the time I pull that blanket off mid spring but really I think I’m just glad to be all done blanketing, that I abandon everything I’ve learned and have to start all over in the fall. For me winter is easy. She has two winter blankets, one that she wears most through most of the winter and one that she wears when we are in the negatives digits. Fall and spring on the other hand, I have no idea how to dress her. Is this…

    The Horse Show Diet

Okay, this weekend I fell victim to “The Horse Show Diet”. You know a weekend of fast food, on top of junk food, with copious amount of coffee. For a couple of years I have worked hard to demystify eating healthy at horse shows and have it somewhat down to a science, which I will share with you. But first let’s talk about how I fell off the band wagon this weekend. Let me paint you a picture real quick. A brunette girl flying down the highway in a blue Chevy Cruze. TI’s What You Know [Explicit] is blaring through the speakers. She’s got a McDonald’s hash brown in one…

    Let’s Talk Horse Show Organization

I’ve always been asked how I pack for horse shows and keep things organized while on the road. I don’t want to toot my own horn, but my stuff for showing is meticulously organized, so toot toot.  I’m going to share what I’ve been doing for years to help keep my sanity and my shit together while horse showing. Is this even possible? Honestly, no. But is it really a horse show if you or your horse isn’t about to go off the deep end? I break my horse show packing into two categories. One being Hannah and the other being Scarlet. This post is all about my stuff, because…

    Helmet Hair Don’t Care

Okay lets take a moment to talk about that giant thing on top of my head. I have a few different hairstyles, all very similar, that scream one of the following scenarios: “I’ve been at the barn”, “I didn’t wash my hair”, or “helmet hair don’t care’. Now, I’ve been throwing my hair up on top of head like a pineapple for years, and plan on continuing this, but I found a few accessories that are especially perfect for combating helmet hair. I pair a messy bun with either of the headbands below to minimize the appearance of helmet hair and find that I can even go out in public…
